Power up your wellness with Mānuka honey this winter
As winter rolls in, bringing short days and cold weather, so do coughs and colds. At TranzAlpine Honey, we know that the best way to naturally boost your winter wellness is with organic honey.
Our Mānuka MGO400+ is perfect for the whole family and can be eaten guilt-free free day. Who knew looking after your health could be so sweet!
Mānuka honey is packed with bioactive compounds, naturally present methylglyoxal and antioxidant properties.
Methylglyoxal, or MGO, is the potent, unique compound that is responsible for the many powerful health benefits found in Mānuka honey. Testing MGO levels is important as they can vary greatly, and due to the short harvesting window in summer, every batch of Mānuka honey is completely unique.
Monofloral Mānuka Honey
Our monofloral organic Mānuka honey MGO400+ comes from honey harvested from our bees that have collected nectar from the sweet Mānuka flower.
It is one of the most potent and pure New Zealand honeys. All our honey is independently tested and certified, so you can have absolute peace of mind that you are getting a premium quality monofloral Mānuka Honey
The Mānuka MGO400+ rating means you still get the powerful properties of the Mānuka honey, with a golden, light floral taste that the whole family will love.
The Perfect Mānuka Nectar
Producing organic Mānuka honey is a lot more challenging than producing other table honeys like clover honey. After all, clover grows prolifically in backyards everywhere, all year round.
The Mānuka tree only flowers for a few weeks during summer in New Zealand. This limited window, combined with factors like the weather, the health of the bee colony and the number of flowers available for the bees to visit, all play a part a critical part in the quality and strength of the Mānuka honey of the annual harvest.
Our hives are in such remote regions that our beekeepers need excellent 4×4 navigation skills, and must be trained in bushcraft, survival and navigation.
We have found ourselves stuck overnight by rivers that rose during the day or sudden changes in weather that leave us having unplanned sleepovers in our vehicles.
When it comes to the quality of Mānuka honey, conditions and timing are everything. Dedicated beekeepers help too.
Glyphosate-free organic honey
To be a certified organic honey producer in New Zealand, you must adhere to some of the most stringent and rigorous legislation in the world. TranzAlpine Honey products are all certified organic by BioGro NZ and are certified glyphosate-free.
Glyphosate finds its way into conventional non-organic honey when bees are exposed to contamination from areas where agricultural spraying is done, near where they forage for pollen and nectar.
The wind can also blow water and dust onto hives that are contaminated with glyphosate. Our hives are in such remote regions and are placed kilometres away from agricultural spraying and urban pollution, so there is absolutely no chance of contamination.
Each batch is rigorously tested, and our customers know that when they buy a TranzAlpine Honey product that they have complete peace of mind.
