It’s a late autumn harvest feast with Organic NZ Bush Honey

May, 2025

Did you know that every year our bees make us and you a unique honey blend foraged from honeydew and native New Zealand beech trees?

No two batches are ever the same!

Our Organic NZ Bush Honey is a limited edition bees’ choice blend brimming with natural goodness. A true New Zealand traditional heritage honey, from a recipe that’s impossible to replicate and thousands of years old.

Every season, the bees collect nectar from the remotest native bush and know exactly where to find the perfect ingredients for one of the world’s most special honeys.

The soft, dark texture and rich taste will have you eating it right out of the jar. An irresistible sweet nectar combination of superfood honeydew and nutrient-rich New Zealand native plants.

Health Benefits of NZ Bush Honey

Organic bush honey has higher antioxidant and antibacterial activity levels, mineral content, and greater nutritional value than any other floral honey.

Scientific studies show that the NZ Honeydew honey has exceptional antioxidant properties with high levels of bioactive compounds. This combination of floral honey is also brimming with Oligosaccharides – nature’s own probiotic that helps to maintain and promote beneficial levels of intestinal bacteria.

“Honey Dew Honey has a higher amino acid composition and disease-fighting antioxidant capacity.”  Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry 2007.

Our honey bees dine on pollen from the best native New Zealand bush, including Mānuka, White Clover, Kānuka, NZ Bush, Rata and Kamahi.

From Our Family to Yours

Our certified GMO-Free organic honey comes from hives in the most remote regions of the South Island. Our beekeepers need to have special outdoor survival training to be able to navigate their way to and from the hives and manage any sudden weather challenges along the way.

During harvest time, we travel to all the hives to collect the honey frames, which are then stored carefully in a temperature-controlled environment before the honey is spun and creamed.

The extracted honey then goes into a creaming tank where it is spun for 12 hours. This process, called creaming, gives honey a softer, buttery texture while preserving all its benefits.

We don’t use synthetic chemicals or antibiotics in, on, or around our beehives or equipment.

Plus, we use minimal heat to prevent damage and preserve the taste and colour of our organic honey. The result is GMO-free, wild and unpasteurised, raw, organic New Zealand honey.

Did you know? Cool facts about bees and organic honey.

  • A single bee colony can pollinate 300 million flowers each day. 70 out of the top 100 human food crops.
  • TranzAlpine Honey only uses renewable, carbon-neutral and sustainable wooden honey frames and beehives. They keep bees warm in the winter and promote longevity.
  • Honeybees are expert navigators and flyers and can reach speeds of up to 25km per hour!
  • There are 28 native bee species in New Zealand, and 27 of those species are found nowhere else in the world. They are small, black bees and don’t travel far from their nests.
  • New Zealand native bees don’t make honey or live in hives – they live in underground nests. Something to keep in mind before spraying pesticides or using weed killer in your garden. They’re a critical part of our biodiversity as they are exceptional pollinators.
  • Honey bees dance to communicate with each other by wiggling their bodies to let other bees know where the nearest nectar is.
  • The Queen honey bee can live up to five years and lays up to 2,500 eggs every day during summer.
  • TranzAlpine Honey doesn’t artificially feed or medicate our bees, and during harvest, we make sure that our honey bees are left with more than enough honey for themselves.
