What are Antimicrobial Agents?

Antimicrobial agents are naturally occurring substances found in things like plants and organic honey that can kill or slow the spread of microorganisms such as algae, fungi and bacteria. Antimicrobials can kill or slow the spread of microorganisms. Microorganisms such as bacteria, viruses, protozoans, and fungi, such as mould and mildew.

Antimicrobial agents can also be synthetic. We are familiar with them in things like hand sanitiser, disinfectants, and sterilisers.
