The company joins an impressive list of Hero Award winners announced so far this year by the Buy NZ Made Campaign. The monthly Hero Award is awarded to companies who not only do a fantastic job promoting their NZ Made status but who have also excelled in other key commercial areas such as domestic and international growth and diversification into new markets.

TranzAlpineHoney has been owned and operated by the Newton family for 107 years and today the business has expanded to include a variety of honey and honey products sold to a large number of countries in six continents. It is one of New Zealand's and the world's most highly regarded manufacturers in the organic honey industry.

Its product range features high-quality honey and honey products such as organic Manuka honey, White Clover honey, Rata honey, NZ Bush honey, Kamahi honey, Manuka honey lozenges, Propolis throat spray and Organic Honeycomb. Over the past year it has also increased its staff numbers and has achieved a remarkable 100% increase in local market sales, as well as entering new markets in Vietnam, Thailand, Taiwan, Macau, Poland and Spain.  And it's also looking at further products for the future as it continues to grow and pioneer new ideas in the honey industry.

Our organic philosophy and compliance is paramount in everything we do. Bee treatment, process temperature, remoteness of harvest area, traceability and so on. Increased consumer demand for organic produce has helped us to diversify our organic honey and honey product range into health and dietary supplements. It all contributes - along with the NZ Made brand, to provide us with a very specific and unoccupied market niche. 

"It's really across the board and we have seen that recognised by markets all over the world as well as domestically. For the future we will see further diversification of organic honeys into health products such as sprays, extracts, lozenges and dietary supplements and we aim to be one of the market leaders in these fields too."

As a winning monthly Hero, TranzAlpineHoney automatically receives a certificate, promotion on the Buy NZ Made website, promotion in target media, Hero artwork which can be used in their own marketing, a social media advertising voucher worth $100 to be used on the Buy NZ Made social media channels and automatic entry into the annual competition where the 12 monthly winners will be voted on by the public for the Ultimate Hero Award.
