All About Organic Manuka Honey

July, 2022

TranzAlpine Honey is a New Zealand, family-run business. Our mission is to produce organic honey just as nature intended – raw, pure and authentic.

Our hardworking New Zealand honeybees collect the nectar from the Manuka tree flowers, during a small flowering window in summer. Producing an incredible-tasting, genuine Manuka honey product.

To be approved for organic certification, honey must come from hives that are far removed from agricultural spraying, urban pollution and pesticides. Where they are surrounded by wild, untouched native bush. Each batch of honey must also be traceable to the individual beehives.

From our hives to your home, we know you’ll love the taste of our certified organic honey.

Where is Our Organic Mānuka Honey Made?

Our Organic Apiaries

Our certified organic honey is sourced from the New Zealand Southern Alps. This is where our bees collect the pollen and nectar from the Mānuka bush, where the flowers only bloom for about 2 months a year.

Each jar of TranzAlpine organic honey can be traced back to the apiary site, where it was lovingly created by our busy bees living in some of the most remote parts of our beautiful country.

Our beekeepers then harvest the honey, and we process it at our organic production facilities right here in New Zealand.

Our Beehive Locations

Our honeybees’ hives are located in pristine, unspoiled areas of South Island. We do not use synthetic chemicals or antibiotics in, on or around our beehives or equipment.

Plus, we use minimal heat to prevent damage to the taste and colour of our organic honey. The result is GMO-free, wild and unpasteurised raw, organic New Zealand Mānuka honey.

Benefits of Organic Manuka Honey

Undoubtedly, Mānuka honey contains unique qualities that set it apart from other kinds of honey. One of mother nature’s best healers features anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial and antibacterial properties and a high concentration of methylglyoxal (MGO). The combined chemical composition of Mānuka honey can enhance your health and well-being.

When shopping for honey, you may have noticed labels with ‘raw,’ ‘pure,’ ‘unfiltered’, and ‘organic honey’ from NZ.

What is the difference between raw and pure honey?

Raw honey is unpasteurised, unfiltered and has bypassed the pollen filtration process. As a result, certified organic raw honey contains a high concentration of antioxidant minerals, vitamins, and all the beneficial properties of good honey.

But, once the honey has been filtered and heated, it no longer contains these beneficial compounds.

Pure honey, however, refers to 100% honey products that do not contain added ingredients such as corn syrup.

You can find pure organic honey; however, not all pure honey is organic.

The good news is that TranzAlpine organic Mānuka honey is pure, genuine and true to label.

It can be consumed daily to help strengthen your respiratory, immune, and digestive systems.

Our Mānuka honey is independently tested in New Zealand to meet the quality measurements expected of the Mānuka standard.
